Alamo, Feb. 2 - Mrs. Mary Ann Elmore, widow of the late James Buchanan Elmore, died at her home a mile and a quarter northwest of Alamo Tuesday night at 7:40 o'clock. Mrs. Elmore who had been in ill health for the past 18 months, had lived in this vicinity since she was 16 years old. Her husband, an extensive landowner, was a prolific writer of poetry at the turn of the century and was known throughout the country as "The Bard of Alamo". His death occured on March 12, 1942. Born May 22, 1863, in Vernon county, Mo., she was the daughter of James and Mary Templeton Murray. Her marriage to Mr. Elmore took place on Feb. 14, 1880. She was a member off the Alamo Christian church and of the Rebekah lodge at Alamo until the organization was disbanded. She gained her education in the schools of the county system. The survivors include two sons, Roscoe M. Elmore and Albert Murray Elmore of this community; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Grace Drollinger, of Veedersburg; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the husband and two daughters; Maude Lemoyne Nora. Funeral services will be held at the Alamo Christian church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body will lie in state for one hour preceding the services. Friends may pay their respects at the Proffitt and Sons Funeral home in Crawfordsville until the body is taken to the church. Rev. Paul Million of the First Christian church in Crawfordsville will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Alamo cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Elmore, widow of the late James Buchanan Elmore the "Bard of Alamo," died at her home a mile and a quarter northwest of Alamo Tuesday nightg at 7:45 o'clock. She had lived in the Alamo community practically her entire life and had been in ill health for over a year. Her husband died in March 1942. He was famous for his "Sassafras Poetry," and made seveal appearances on the stage of the opera house in Veedersburg. His renown spread throughout the middle west and he was an extensive landowner . Mrs. Elmore was active in community and church affairs. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Alamo Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Roscoe and Albert Elmore of Alamo; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Grace Drollinger of Veedersburg; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was proceded in death by two daughters besides the husband.
